Clients contact us by email, or telephone to find out how we work. Projects in need of editing and proofreading may consist of documents from under 500 words to over 100,000 words in length. Projects can include reports, essays, dissertations, journal articles, books, press releases, brochures and booklets.

Work can be sent as Word documents. Clients are informed that editing and proofreading is done in Track Changes, where text is added and modified in the editing process. On completion of the work, clients are sent three documents: a clean copy that is ready for print; a document containing Track Changes and a list of queries and suggestions if this is applicable.
For PDFs (portable document format) documents, we use PDF-XChange. We use the Wacom annotation tool in proofreading PDF files. This is quicker and easier for publishers and clients to follow any changes that have been made to such documents.
Web pages are edited using the Snipping Tool, and pages can be converted to Microsoft Word documents or PDF files.
If clients want us to do editing/proofreading in hard copy, we mark the edits by hand and post or email the corrections to them.
Short documents (under 1000 words), requiring a modest edit, may take only a few hours to complete, whereas a more complex document may take several days, depending on its length and complexity.
Invoicing & Paying
Payment is discussed when clients contact us about their project(s) before the work commences. Rates for editing/proofreading will vary, depending on the complexity of a project and the time it takes to complete.
A 50% deposit must be paid (before work commences) on all projects over10 000 words in length.
In some instances, an hourly rate for editing and proofreading is employed. This applies for the proofreading of company brochures and booklets that may have a lot of artwork.
Invoices are sent on the completion of a project. The invoice states that payment has to be made within 7 days of the date of the invoice.
Payment is made by Visa Card, MasterCard, PayPal or cheque.
